                                                                                                My first tattoo

Some people view tattoos as a sign for a gang related sign, others view them as art using their body as a canvas. Tattoos are viewed different in society, whether you are getting interviewed for a job or simply out on the town with family and friends. In this brief essay, I’m going to share my views and opinions on why I started accumulating tattoos on my body.
My first tattoo I was only fifteen and pretty nervous because I hate needles, but I was relentless to get a tattoo. As my dad drove up to the building I could feel my heart sink to the bottom of my stomach.  We sat there for a while before my dad asked if I had a change of heart, but me being the tough guy I was, opened the door and proceeded to walk in the tattoo parlor. As I approached the artist he asked how old I was, which I replied fifteen, he asked if I was sure I wanted to get a tattoo, because it would be on my body for the rest of my life, I confirmed his suspicion with a head nod. After signing some paper work, he began telling me stories about how he regretted getting any tattoos (he had tattoos from head to toe.) as he started to put the needle in his tattoo gun.  As he placed the needle to my skin it didn’t seem to be what I expected. My heart crept out of my stomach, it was as if he wasn’t even touching me with the needle, I looked down and he was drawing on me with a pin, sketching my tattoo out before he made the permanent tattoo. When he finished sketching he looked at me one more time and asked if I still was sure about the tattoo, I responded with a passionate yes, he then began tattooing my back. At first it hurt on my shoulder blade, but the pain became bearable. After finishing my tattoo, he gave me a big slap dead on the raw skin where my tattoo was. After getting my first tattoo I had become addicted to letting my body be a canvas. I have so many tattoos I’ve lost count, although I’m afraid of this lifestyle affecting my future career I still cannot let the urge go of getting art drawn on my body.

My views on tattoo is one that many people think that is a waste of money, they say it ruins what God has blessed you with, or that your setting an example for young generations that its okay to get tattoos. I think tattoos are different ways to express your feelings, you can get a tattoo to show a loved one that is no longer with you, to show that you appreciate art in a different perspective, or even get a tattoo for a bond between a strong relationship. Either way tattoos have their advantages and disadvantages. In my eye my advantages out wayed my disadvantages.

  1. I agree with your opinion that tattoos are a good way of expressing ones love for a close relative or someone who has passed away.
